This job is pretty menial and doesn't require too much focus from me, so I am allowed to put on my headphones and I get to listen to hours of podcasts (and sometimes music or audiobooks) every work day. If I lose this job, the biggest loss for me personally (other than financially), would be that I will have much less time to listen to podcasts. So I understand why they'd want to increase productivity now, for better or worse. However recently it was discovered that the project has been extended and there is a lot more work to do. We all knew that, and the expectation was that we only had a few more months before finishing the project. Also the project we are working on is a temporary contract, once we finish everything there is to do they will have to lay off most of the team.
